Utilize a 4-pin peripheral molex power connection from your ATX power supply to power high current 3-pin and 4-pin computer fans, water pumps, and other devices

The tachometer (pin 3) and PWM signal (pin 4) are wired to the female input fan connector. 12V power is provided from the 4-pin periphral molex connector.
4-Pin Molex Connector - Connection Tips

Important: The 4-pin ATX peripheral (Molex) connector is a legacy design with looser manufacturing tolerances that can make connections challenging.

Why connections can be difficult:

  • Older connector design with wider pin tolerance ranges
  • Sleeving and heatshrink near the connector can create tension on the pins

Connection tips:

  • Twist the wire bundle gently behind the connector housing to relieve tension
  • Visually inspect pin alignment before attempting connection
  • Apply gentle, even pressure - forcing the connection can push pins out of position
  • If resistance is felt, stop and check alignment rather than forcing
